So it's no secret that I'm a huge lover of NCIS. I think it's awesome, in most senses of the word.

However... I JUST found out that there's a spinoff; NCIS: LA. As usual, I was skeptical... but I shouldn't have been! This show is pretty awesome (okay, just watched the first episode... but still!) I mean it's nothing at all like NCIS the original... but still... fun characters, witty interactions, and strong acting. I just really really enjoyed it.

Movin' day is coming. Friday is the last night here and then on Saturday, I leave Warren Wilson indefinitely. It's... weird. Strange. Kinda scary, but I guess I'm ready for it. Packing has always been like a life size puzzle game for me. I don't sweat moving, I've done it enough. *shrug*

Two weeks in Knoxville, then on to Bowling Green.

I hope that BoA gets me through this.

I have a presentation on Aum Shinrikyo this morning. I'm getting nervous(as I always do) but if my presentation on Wounded Knee earlier in the semester did well (and it did) then this one should be fantastic. I recommend reading the wiki article I linked, though. It's a fascinating New Religious Movement in Japan, and they're responsible for over 30 murders, and also the largest and most deadly terrorist attack on Japanese soil in modern history. It's the largest scale attack since the US dropped the bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

I'm really fascinated with this topic, and I really wish I could take it beyond this class. Regardless, I'm going to write a kick ass paper about all this.

Obviously I'm looking for any input if anyone on my f-list happens to know something about Aum and would like to share.

I think I'm pretty good at saying nothing. So this was my proposal to get into Research in Creative Writing... and I find that while it says nothing, I am rather fond of it saying nothing.

I hope I get in. x.x

I propose to take WRI 491: Research in Creative Writing and base my research on a class I will be taking at the same time: ENG 335: Medieval Life and Literature. Though that is the specific class I would like to do my research on, I have also taken INT 316 Medieval Islamic Cultures (with Professor Mycoff) and PHI 292 Medieval Philosophy (with Tony Coumoundouros). I believe together those three classes could enable me to write accurate, informed, and interesting period pieces in a time period I am quite interested in myself. Though my entire project is not quite completely defined yet, I intend to use the coming summer to research either a specific person or event in the time period that will no doubt he studied in Professor Mycoff’s course next semester that will be the focus of a longer piece of either creative nonfiction or realistic period fiction that will be prepared throughout the semester next year. I am currently a sophomore. When this class begins, however, I will be a junior and meet that requirement.
